Renee started Mizuna Gardens in 1993 after moving from the San Francisco Bay Area to try a new lifestyle in Oregon. Soon after moving, she discovered an absolute passion for gardening. She tried out her idea for a market salad garden, selling at a local farmer's market the first year. The next year she contacted Cory Schreiber at Wildwood Restaurant, which had just opened, and the rest is history as they say. After 17 years of hard work, her passion for salad gardening continues. With a background in art, she has taken all she learned about color, texture and form and applied it to her salad mixes. When not working in the garden, Renee enjoys continuing with her art, kayaking the waters near the farm and spending time with her husband, Jon, and their two Golden Retrievers, Caleb & Finleigh.

Jon works as a researcher at Oregon Health & Science University. He's currently studying the causes of Parkinson's disease. On weekends, Jon generously helps with garden work. He loves to explore Columbia County by bicycle, kayak and foot. In between all this, you very well may find him reading books on math, science or history for relaxation. And he always (without help) completes the NY Times Sunday crossword puzzle.

Katie joined Mizuna Gardens in 2009. She innately understands the needs of the plants and tends to them with incredible attention to detail. Originally from Santa Cruz, Katie lives in Portland with her husband, Casey, and their cat, Moses. When she's not working hard in the garden, she works in her art studio. Please visit her website:
